The walls have resisted numerous invaders for more then 10 centuries, but will they resist us?
Standing in front of the old town, you can’t resist imagining Kotor’s invaders looking at its amazing fortification system, feeling impressed by its grandiosity and wondering “how did they build it and what could be a secret to destroying it”? No secret recipe would help, Kotor walls would always resist.
Our weapons this time will be only our will and a good mood. We will follow the footsteps of the soldiers that had to face 1400 steps along the walls in a zig-zag pattern to reach the fortress of St. John at the top of the hill.
The prize is big enough once you arrive to the top, standing at 250mt above sea level, a spectacular view on colourful Kotor with its red roofs, giving a perfect contrast to different shades of green and blue all around it.
I still remember the first time I climbed the walls, I was so eager to see the view changing along the way and felt proud of myself once I was on the top.
It definitely gives you a perspective you can’t have while being in town, and I want you to feel the same!
